Hello again! In slight continuation from last night, I tasted all of the McDonald's macaroons and managed to make up my own criteria to rate them consisting of 7 different macaroon qualities, which I shall not mention as it would be quite lengthy. However, the overall winners in the box were the strawberry, chocolate, and coffee flavors, but as far as macaroons in France go, I'm sure they fit in somewhere at the bottom in terms of flavor and quality. ANYWAY...

Today was another day of classes, I got to do a class exercise with one of the British students and we asked questions back and forth in French. I'd like to think I'm making progress in my French, but it's slow going. After class I headed back to my apartment where I made myself a salami and ham sandwich on the petit baguette I bought myself yesterday and then had a side of roast chicken flavored potato chips, they were surprisingly tasty! I would elaborate on what exactly they tasted like but I was in the middle of watching a show so I didn't pay attention.

After lunch, I had class with Dr. Kiley and we talked about cultures in America and France before getting out around 3:15 to take a trip over to the Bellecour area which is big for young people and tourists wanting to shop, eat, or go to a museum. We stopped in the tourist office and grabbed some books about Lyon which may or may not prove useful later one. In the square off the tourist office is a statue of King Louis XIV with a lovely view of the Notre Dame on top of its hill. Directly behind the tourist office was this row of rose bushes which smelled just heavenly! We walked a lot from square to square as Dr. Kiley pointed out some sights we may wish to revisit later. We went to several squares and through several side streets before stopping.

At the end of our little tour we all stopped for a refreshment at a cafe with outdoor seeing and umbrellas. Harley and Harrison sat with me and Harley ordered the popular 'Monoco' drink (half beer, half grenadine) and I opted for a nice Coke with lemon which was very refreshing. I sampled a bit of water with mint flavor added that tasted like Listerine without the alcohol, if you can imagine how that would taste...hint, it wasn't good.

After our short break, Harrison and I went on our way back toward school with Dr. Kiley. Harrison was on a quest to find a post office where he could change his American money to Euros. I was on a quest to have Dr. Kiley help me print a boarding pass for my trip this weekend. Harrison unfortunately couldn't get his money changed over. When we got to the school, I needed Dr. Kiley's help to use his ID card to pay for my printing because we won't get our student ID cards until next week. For some reason he wasn't able to get the printer to work so we asked had to ask the only student there to help us. After several tries to get her the document so she could print it, we finally got the boarding pass in hand. I thanked her several times before heading back to my room to start preparing dinner, some Cordon Bleus that I picked up at the Carrefour and only had to heat up in a frying pan. Tomorrow is a 'Bank Holiday' or national holiday so most things will be closed, but Dr. Kiley is taking us students somewhere tomorrow morning. Now I just need to get rid of my sunburn from all the walking I did outside today.
